According to Islamic sources, the first person in history to cover the Kaaba with a veil was Tubba Abu Karib As’ad.
Tubba was the ruler of the Himyerite Kingdom in Yemen and lived in the 4th century AD or earlier. When he visited Mecca, he started the custom of covering the Ka’bah with a beautiful cloth to show respect for it.
This historical event shows that the custom of covering the Ka’bah (Kiswah) is an ancient tradition dating back to pre-Islamic times.
